DOTCAN is always eager to work with its cross-Atlantic partners for the promotion of ocean technology and the enhancement of ocean technical capacity. This is why we jumped on the opportunity of having Ocean researchers from the CERC.OCEAN Lab at Dalhousie University visiting Mindelo to showcase their highly effective, low-cost Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) equipped with water samplers and interchangeable sensors for low-cost ocean monitoring. 

Mechanical Engineer and Oceanography PhD candidate Allison Chua, leading the research will be represented by Professor Douglas Wallace, Chemical Oceanographer and Piotr Kawalec, Mechanical Engineer, who will be giving an overview of the benefits and practical uses of low-cost ocean tech, and the advantages of partnerships in their development, manufacturing, exploitation and the sharing of collected information.  

If you are an ocean professional working in the Blue Economy space, a student in marine sciences, engineering or maritime security, or a person passionate about the ocean, please join us at the Ocean Technology Showcase on June 13, 2023 at the Auditório, Universidade Técnica do Atlântico, 2:30 pm.
